Confirmation 2017

Confirmations at the Holy Family Church

On 19th May young people from the parishes of St. Anthony’s - Ottery St Mary, and The Holy Family - Honiton, gathered together to be confirmed.

Bishop Mark O’Toole, Bishop of Plymouth conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 10 boys and girls who had spent the previous 6 months preparing for this day.  They were skilfully assisted by Catechists Philip Bell and Louise Jarvis.

Families and friends travelled to join the young people as they took another step in their journey of faith.  We wish them well as they continue their journey, and assure them of our continued prayers and support.

Confirmation is a call to live by God's Spirit. It is conferred at a later age having clear connotations of Christian maturity. The candidates are acknowledging the adult commitment to faith, literally ‘confirming' the promises made on their behalf at baptism. Young people should be 14+ to enter the programme which will lead to confirmation being celebrated in Spring 2017.

There might be a residential retreat during that period. If your son/daughter is in year 9 and above in September 2016, please let your Parish Priest - Fr. Frank know that you wish them to be enrolled on the Confirmation programme beginning in Autumn 2017.
